2019 John Deere Sprayer
2019 John Deere Sprayer John Deere has expanded its range of sprayers for farmers who have plenty of land to spray, but who are also concerned about compaction. The new John Deere R4044 sprayer is lighter than previous models and is designed to allow farmers to enter the field earlier.
“This machine is primarily aimed at small grain areas and Broadacre areas where customers do not need direct injection because direct injection is not compatible with this machine,” says product marketing manager Craig Mosher. “It allows customers in these areas to exchange direct injection for a larger solution tank capacity. “
Like the R4045, the new self-propelled sprayer features a 1,200-gallon stainless steel tank and a spray width of up to 132 feet. However, the R4044 is 9 percent lighter. This allows operators to maintain a high level of productivity while at the same time reducing negative impacts on crops and soils.
“Often the application windows are very narrow, so it is a great advantage to have a sprayer that can handle the orders quickly with less crop damage or impact on the ground. The addition of the R4044 to the 4-series family fills that perfectly, “says Doug Felter, product marketing manager for John Deere application equipment.
“Through the R4044 for in your lineup, it allows you to have a lighter machine and be more productive, which means getting more done. So especially if a guy had a R4038 and he moves on that machine, he’ll have a bigger solution tank, which means he’ll be able to get 9 more acres per hour, “adds Mosher.
The 9.0 l PowerTech engine makes 325 hp. This is 15 hp more than the R4038, and in combination with the Hydrostatic drive, it enables spraying speeds of up to 25 mph. The maximum driving speed of the R4044 is 35 mph. The sprayer has a balance between performance and weight, which allows farmers to keep their speed during loading, even over demanding volseres terrain. That means you don’t have to sacrifice accuracy or productivity. Deere claims to have the most comfortable cabin in the industry with integrated technology in the new R4044. Farmers use the new 4600 CommandCenter display to control spray functions from their seat.
“The 4600 command centre was new in 2018. This command center creates a common user interface for all newer John Deere products. The client has the same user interface, the same knowledge “explains Mosher”.
Farmers can add AutoTrac vision and AutoTrac row vision for increased accuracy. At the beginning of the growing season, AutoTrac uses a front camera to steer the wheels of the field sprayer. Later on, during the growing season, when plants become larger, the AutoTrac row sensor system’s wheel blade sensors help you control your machine properly.
“This sprayer has the best in the industry when it comes to row-keeping,” says Mosher.
Another option called Exactapply was a popular add-on with other Deere sprayers. It is also available on the R4044. The nozzle control system improves the spraying performance by allowing the sprayer to obtain consistent droplet sizes and patterns at different speeds. The technology also reduces the chance of overlapping, jumps and drift. The complete turn and shut-off function with precise offers can help farmers reduce input costs by up to 5%. A better consistency across a range of speed ranges means that more hectares are covered with less time.

In addition to the options of the Ag Tech, additional features can be added to the R4044 base model. For dry fertilization, John Deere offers a 200 metre Dry Fertilizer Container. Steel beams can be ordered in lengths of 90, 100 or 120 ft. Farmers also have the ability to withstand carbon fibre wing lengths of 120 or 132 feet. Optional automatic boom height adjustment with five-sensor Boomtracpro technology is also available.
A range of tyre packages is also available. There are three sizes for front and back tires as well as two flotation tyre options. Flotation tires are only available for field installation. For the standard tyres, the harvest release is 60 inches. The tank capacity of the R4044 is 155 gallons. The diesel Exhaust Fluid tank (DEF) has a capacity of 7.8 gallons. This sprayer has a wheelbase of 169.3 inches and a turning radius of 28.5 feet.
You can order your new sprayer from your local John Deere dealer in June 2018. During this time, price information will also be published. The production of the R4044 will begin in November 2018 at John Deere’s Des Moines, Iowa, factory. The delivery is expected to start at the end of 2018 so that farmers can use the machine in the 2019 spring spray season.
