2018 John Deere X758
2018 John Deere X758 This is by far the top of the line with respect to lawn and garden tractors, I have possessed many John 400S and 700S and some competitors over the years and the x754 tractor satisfies all my needs spring, summer, fall and winter. Easy to use-reliable and a lot of Bang for the Buck-nothing seems to stop it. This is my second due to the great commercial value and the dealer gave me a good deal, I was able to switch to a new one after a few years. I love the direction of the wheel and the diesel engine. Some minor problems, but generally easily fixed when I contacted the Distributor. (decals are detached, headlights are not connected, and a loose wiring harness).
The new mulch control function increases productivity by reducing collection volumes – and emptying cycles – significantly when packaged. It also increases flexibility: if the conditions are too poor for mulch properly, operators can convert to side dump in just 30 seconds. Ergonomic levers lift and lower hydraulically the mower cover and accessories. A “float” position allows the front-mounted equipment to follow the ground contours. Intuitive controls allow for easy operation.
The John Deere X series, built in Horicon, Wisconsin and the field tested on the 400 acres Swan road “Farm ” (more at this later) apparently has a tractor for every homeowner’s need and budget. Starting with the series of six X300 models where innovations such as rear discharge mowing decks, four wheel steering, power steering, and hydraulic lift can be had, and through the four Model X500 series where even Heavier duty transmissions and liquid refrigeration (depending on the model) to be available, the series X tractors cover all the bases. But if you are looking for the “ultimate ” heavy duty lawn and garden tractor, the X700 series is where it is on.
The X700 series consists of 3 2 traction models (X710, X730 and X750), 3 4-wheel steer models (X734, X739 and x754 tractor), and 2 4-wheel traction models (X738 and X758). The energy is delivered by a carbureted 22 hp liquid-cooled V-twin (X710), 25.5 hp EFI liquid cooled V-Twins (X730, X734, X738 and X739), or 24 hp liquid cooled three-cylinder diesels (X738 and X758) . For the latter in maneuverability and traction, the X739 comes with four-wheel steering and four-wheel drive. But, unfortunately, to keep the tractor below the weight limit where a ROPS is required, the X739 does not include a diesel option. Pity, it would really be the last tractor.
The Test tractor team from Farmington Valley in Farmington, Conn. Available to us to review is the diesel Powered X758. The X758 is compatible with the EPA final Tier 4 (FT4), and keeping it below the 25 HP limit, capable of meeting the stringent requirements without the need for complex electronics and increasing the cost. Manufactured by Yanmar, the 3TNM74 power station displaces 60.6 CI and uses indirect injection. The output of the engine is shipped via the shaft to a single-range hydrostatic transmission, cooled correctly by a transmission cooler and not a fragile plastic fan, and modulated by a side-by-side twin pedal arrangement which is among the best in the Business. The pedal arrangement offers fine and infinite modulation over the front entire 0-8.5 mph and 0-6 mph reverse speed ranges. A 8cc pump boosts power steering, attachment elevation and front-wheel-drive hydraulic motors.
